Team Favorites Unveiled

We reached out to each member of our talented team and asked them a set of questions about their favourite movies. Here’s what they had to say:

Trading Places (1983)

Trading Places

Simon – CEO / Producer

Q: Why does your favourite Christmas movie hold a special place in your heart?

A: I was ten years old when I first watched it. I got the humour, even though it was intended for adults. I was a massive fan of Eddie Murphy and Dan Aykroyd then. For me, it was a true coming-of-age movie.

Q: Highlight a memorable scene or moment from your beloved Christmas movie. What makes it special?

A: A highly memorable scene is when Aykroyd, Murphy, Curtis and Elliot get on the New Year’s Eve train to swap suitcases with Clarence Beaks! The best lines are “But you’re wearing Lederhosen” and “Beef Jerky time”.

Q: If you could recommend this Christmas movie to someone who has never seen it, what would you tell them to expect?

A: I’d tell them to expect a classic 80s movie that is un-PC but funny with a real Christmas vibe.

National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation (1989)

National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation

Tom – CEO / Creative Director

Q: Why does your favourite Christmas movie hold a special place in your heart?

A: This film was a Christmas perennial growing up –  if it hadn’t been watched, xmas truly hadn’t begun.

Q: Highlight a memorable scene or moment from your beloved Christmas movie. What makes it special?

A: It has to be the Christmas lights scene, where Clarke Griswold covers the house with a million lights, smashes up the Christmas garden ornaments when they don’t turn on, then causes a power grid meltdown when they do!

Q: If you could recommend this Christmas movie to someone who has never seen it, what would you tell them to expect?

A: Possibly the finest example of a Christmas film, NLCV has everything you could want at Christmas – egg nog, electrocuted cats, emotional breakdowns and relentless family misery!

The Preacher’s Wife (1996)

The Preacher's Wife

Chinaza – Junior Editor

Q: Why does your favourite Christmas movie hold a special place in your heart?

A: It’s a heartwarming watch with strong performances and great songs.

Q: Does the Christmas movie hold any sentimental value for you, and if so, why?

A: It stars the wonderful Whitney Houston, I’m a huge fan of hers.

Q: If you could recommend this Christmas movie to someone who has never seen it, what would you tell them to expect?

A: Expect to hear some amazing vocals and possibly feelings of nostalgia too 🥰

How the Grinch Stole Christmas (2000)

How the Grinch Stole Christmas

Nadia – Junior Producer

Q: Are there any specific themes or messages from the Christmas movie that you find particularly meaningful or relevant to the holiday season?

A: The importance of love, acceptance, and the spirit of giving.

Q: Which elements from this Christmas movie influenced your view of filmmaking or storytelling?

A: The use of physical comedy and the importance of creating a visually appealing and immersive world. Jim Carrey is a master of physical comedy, and the town of Whoville is a feast for the eyes.

Q: If you could recommend this Christmas movie to someone who has never seen it, what would you tell them to expect?

A: You’ll fall in love with the Grinch, even though he’s a grumpy old curmudgeon!
