The Brief:

FatFace is more than a quality clothes company, it’s an institution. Having produced content for FatFace’s Autumn campaign, FatFace returned to us to produce their Christmas Family Winter Campaign video.

The Challenge:

This campaign had to exude Christmas in every way – not straightforward to achieve in the summer months so we opted to shoot the entire video in the Scottish highlands, late at night. We had to adapt to the elements and use a camera kit that would work well during the long, cold nights of filming. We selected a camera that was ideal for shooting in low-level light and used fast lenses and a high-quality ring toplight to highlight the actors.

Our Approach:

Throughout the project, we worked closely with the photography team to ensure continuity between the photo and video campaign. We also worked alongside the FatFace creative team to fully understand their vision for the campaign and to breathe life into their storyboards. Ultimately, FatFace’s overarching goal was to concentrate on friendship and action as opposed to the clothes themselves.

The Result:

The result materialised as a festive commercial that conveyed a lifestyle instead of a product – one that got to the heart of FatFace. Because of the film’s immediate success, FatFace commissioned us to produce a series of cutdown clips for their social media platforms.

Theory are fantastic to work with. They have taken our (sometimes loose!) briefs and turned them around really quickly, with creativity and innovation. Such a great team to work with.
