Working with Publicis Italy, we were commissioned to direct and produce their million-dollar 3D cinema and TV advert for their ‘Out of this World’ campaign. We had the great fortune to aim high in this extraordinary opportunity.
Based on the success of a film we had produced for Google, Heineken gave us creative licence to direct and produce all the video content. We were asked to run free with our unique, creative storytelling style to produce something meaningful and memorable.
We worked closely with the creative team to realise their vision. The shoot was separated into two parts: the live action shoot and the 3D graphics. We began with shooting the live action. We constructed a luxury penthouse balcony on a massive greenscreen sound stage where we filmed party revellers enjoying the fireworks. We then focused on animation. By partnering with an animation house in Paris, we created breathtaking scenes that pictured the flying-through-space scenes that launch the video.
The result was a sensation. Originally, this video was only planned to be broadcast in the UK, but Heineken was so impressed by the film that they rolled it out in the United States, Asia and Europe.
